FREE Jewellery Instructions – Make this Swarovski Crystal Necklace
A bolt of genius – Coral and Peach (as seen in the May 2010 issue of Make Jewellery Magazine)
Designed by Jane Purdy and Amanda Pickstock, Shiney Company
Introduction
A statement necklace with a difference! It’s a surprising design that pushes the boundaries, using bolt rings as chain links, combined with polyester chain. Position the design whichever way suits you best, opening at the front, or linking at the back. It’s A-symetrical, bold and very different featuring pearls and crystals by CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements.

Step 1
Connect 6 x Gold Plated bolt rings together by opening the trigger and attaching to the link on the next bolt ring, finally add a Silver Plated bolt ring and set aside.
Step 2
With 25cms of gold colour beadalon wire, begin by threading on a hard crimp followed, but a wire guardian, then thread the wire back through the crimp. Squash with the snipe nose pliers, trim excess wire and cover with a crimp cover.
Step 3
String the pearls and crystals in this order: 14mm Coral, 12mm White, 12mm Peach, 14mm Coral, 20mm Golden Shadow Sq Ring, 14mm Coral, 12mm Peach, 12mm White, 18mm Golden Shadow Briolet, 12mm Peach.
Step 4
Thread on a crimp, a wire guardian and thread back through the crimp. Pull to tighten and squash the crimp. Trim excess wire and cover with a crimp cover.
Step 5
Connect the wire guardian nearest to the Coral Pearl to the silver bolt ring with 2 x 6.8mm jump rings. Adding two jump rings side by side, makes a more secure finish.
Step 6
Cut 2 x 26 link pieces of polyester chain. Begin a wrapped loop on one end of the gunmetal wire, before wrapping, connect the loop to the link on the last Gold bolt ring, then finish the wrapped loop.
Step 7
Thread on a 14mm Coral Pearl. Make another wrapped loop, large enough to feed the two end links of the polyester chain onto. Connect the other end of the chain to a jump ring and to the wire guardian on the other end of the strung section.
Step 8
Thread the remaining pearls onto headpins and make a wrapped loop on each.
Attach a jump ring to a peach pearl and connect to the link on the remaining gold bolt ring. Attach a jump ring to the other side of the bolt ring and link to an oval ring and another jump ring linking to the wire guardian.
Step 9
Attach a jump ring to an oval ring then to a peach pearl and connect the jump ring to the beginning of the chain. Add the last two pearls, 1 x 14mm Coral and 1 x 12mm Peach to the chain to decorate.
Tip!
Take care with the polyester chain, it can break if not handled carefully.
