Crafty Wedding Tips…
Making your own tiara and accessories
- If you are a complete beginner there are several ways to get started. You may have clear ideas in mind, but need help with materials and tools; visit your local bead store and see if there is a tiara maker in store who can offer advice.
- Research the web! A google image search for handmade tiaras will unearth lots of great pictures to give you some inspiration to get started. Or you could always visit www.shineyrocks.co.uk for books on the subject.
- Classes are a brilliant way to learn techniques and get inspiration from others; however, if you don’t have one local to you, you could arrange a day out with friends and visit Shiney Company in Bath or Bristol for a fun day of making Swarovski Crystal tiaras and accessories. Alternatively try a tiara kit with instructions available from www.shineyrocks.co.uk
- If you have some wire work experience, get creative with wire and beads and experiment with the skills you have to create something unique!
- Be bold and don’t be scared to experiment with colour. Gold and bronze is back with a vengeance and works brilliantly with bright colours or rich warm tones.
- On a budget? Go green and recycle old jewellery and tiaras to make your sparkler. Visit your local charity shops, car boots and flea markets for bargains to add to your design.
- Beach brides: Visit the coast for a romantic walk and collect some shells to add to your design. You can drill shells with a small hand drill and add them into your jewellery or accessories to create your beach style. It’s great fun, a day out and won’t cost you a penny!
- Recycle! When you send out your invites, you might also want to invite your guests to donate old jewellery. Not only will this have sentimental value, but you can create your own unique look without the expense.
Shiney Company offers jewellery and tiara classes at their Bristol and Bath bead shops. You can also try your hand at jewellery making with their range of jewellery and tiara kits with full instructions. www.shineyrocks.co.uk or telephone 0117 300 9800.
