Mowtown Inspired Jewellery Workshops

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Motown records, the Assembly Rooms in Bath, will be hosting the V&A exhibition “The Story of the Supremes” From the Mary Wilson Collection, in collaboration with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

This spectacular exhibition which opens on the 25th July and runs until 31st August, will display more than 50 original stage costumes worn by the Supremes, from the collection of founder member Mary Wilson. Mary Wilson will be in Bath to open the show. Shiney Company have been asked to design a jewellery collection inspired by the Supremes and in addition will be running a series of jewellery workshops from £10 and FREE demonstrations to celebrate Supreme style and sparkle! There will be plenty of CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements dazzle going on and our designs reflect the dazzling shoulder dusting earrings and big bling rings of the era. Many of the stage customes during this period were so magnificent, necklaces didn’t have a big place. However, we couldn’t run crystal workshops without a dazzling necklace design, so we enlisted the help of visiting tutor, Joanne Wood to come up with a crystal choker. As soon as we have an image we’ll have it posted for you to see. In the meantime, get yourself onto one of the workshops; we are doing things a little bit different this time, with classes only £10 but you buy the materials you want to work with on the day.
