Step 1

eye-step1

Straighten a piece of 0.8mm wire with nylon jaw pliers and cut 15cms. Grip the wire approx. 2cm from one end, at the widest part of the round nose pliers and turn a loop as shown.

Step 2

eye-step2

Using the tip of the round nose pliers, grip inside the loop at the base where the wires cross. Bend the wire so that it straight and do the same with the other side as shown.

Step 3

eye-step3

Trim the short wire so that it is 1cm long from the base of the loop. Using the tip of your round nose pliers, grip the long wire where the short wire ends and bend at a right angle to the hook. It should come out to the side of the hook.

Step 4

eye-step4

Slide your round nose pliers into the angle about 6mm from the tip and grip. Bend the wire over the top jaw of the pliers with your fingers, so the wire is pointing downwards.

Step 5

eye-step5

Change the grip of the pliers so that the loop is positioned on the lower jaw and bend the wire towards the back of the loop, so that the wire is at 90 degrees to the hook. Adjust the position on the loop if you need to so that it is central.

Step 6

eye-step6

To add to your jewellery, gently open the loop and slide onto your piece. Continue by gripping the loop flat with nylon jaws pliers. Turn the nylon jaw pliers as you wrap the wire around until you meet the larger loop. Snip the end of the wire and squash flat using your snipe nose pliers.
