Make a Hook Clasp – Beginner
Make a hook clasp to add to your hand-crafted jewellery designs using 0.8mm silver or gold plated craft wire.
Tools
Round nose pliers
Flush Cutters
Ring Mandrel or Pen
Nylon Jaw Pliers
Steel Block
Chasing Hammer
Step 1
Straighten an 8cm piece of 0.8mm wire using the nylon jaw pliers. Using the round nose pliers, make a P shaped loop at one end.

Step 2
Bend the wire over a pen or the small end of a ring mandrel with the P shape loop on the outside. Trim the wire if necessary to your desire length and make a larger P shaped loop on the other end using the round nose pliers.

Step 3
Place your hook on the steel block and hammer the top curve of the hook to strengthen and give a professional finish.
